Doja Cat's single "Paint The Town Red" has made it to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its fifth week on the chart — becoming the first rap song to reach the top spot in 54 weeks. (The last one was Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” in August 22, 2022.) That's the longest absence of rap from the No. 1 spot since 2001, when there was a gap of 79 weeks (more than 18 months) between Will Smith’s “Wild Wild West” and Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me.“ This also marks the second No. 1 song of Doja Cat's career, following “Say So,” with Nicki Minaj, in 2020. "Paint the Town Red" is the second single from Doja's upcoming album, Scarlet, which drops on September 22nd. The 24-stop Scarlet Tour, which will feature Ice Spice and Doechii as openers, is set to kick off on Halloween in San Francisco.
