Lizzo said on Instagram that this has been a “gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing” week after she was sued by three former backup dancers. She denied the “outrageous” allegations, which include creating a hostile work environment, fat-shaming dancers, sexual harassment, and disability discrimination. Lizzo insists the “sensational stories” come from former employees who “already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”
She also doesn’t want to be seen as a victim. “I also know that I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these past few days,” Lizzo added. “I am hurt but I will not let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this.” The three dancers appeared on CNN yesterday after Lizzo's response, calling it “incredibly frustrating” and “disheartening.”
