Missy Elliott Becomes The First Woman In Hip-Hop To Be Inducted Into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Yesterday (May 3rd), The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame announced its 2023 inductees, which included hip-hop icon Missy Elliott. Missy has become the first woman in hip-hop to ever receive this honor. Elliott made the cut in her first year of eligibility. To be considered, artists are required to have released their first record 25 years prior to induction.

Missy reacted to the news, saying, "I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work & what many of us contribute to MUSIC. I have cried all morning because I am GRATEFUL thank you @rockhall & all on the committee & Supafriends💜 https://t.co/agHv7puauj."

Chaka Khan, George Michael, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and Don Cornelius will also be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will go down on Friday, November 3rd.
