Nia Long has released a statement after news broke that her fiancé Ime Udoka was involved in an “improper relationship” with a fellow Celtics staff member. Udoka has been suspended for one year.
In a statement released to People, the actress said, The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me. I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children.”
Meanwhile, Udoka also released a statement, saying, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision.”
Sources close to the family revealed that Nia and her son moved to Boston two weeks ago in hopes of finding a home with Udoka.
Meanwhile, TMZ has reported that the employee that Udoka had an affair with helped make all of his travel arrangements and sometimes even made travel arrangements for Nia. The staffer even had a hand in helping set up Nia’s travel permanent travel arrangements to Boston.
Kevin Fraser also tweeted more on the story this past weekend. He wrote, “Multiple sources confirm, #Celtics female staffer's affair w/ Celtics Coach #ImeUdoka was uncovered by her husband when he overheard a private conversation on a home doorbell camera.”
