The nominees for the 64th annual Grammy Awards were announced yesterday (November 23rd) and Jay Z has made history! The music icon is now the most Grammy nominated artist of all time. He earned nominations for Album of the Year for his work on Kanye West's DONDA and two for Best Rap Song for his work on DMX’s Bath Salts alongside Nas, and Kanye West’s "Jail." This places Jay-Z at 83 total nominations over the course of his career, making him the most nominated ever – surpassing Quincy Jones, at a total of 80.
Meanwhile, Jon Batiste leads with 11 nominations, while Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. earn the second-most nominations with eight. Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are up for seven nods. Kanye West scored four nods including Album of the Year and Best Rap Album or Donda. J. Cole also scored four nominations. Baby Keem, Saweetie, Snoh Aalegra, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again are all nominated for the first time.
Although The Weeknd has boycotted the Grammys, he earned three nominations for Doja Cat’s Planet Her (Deluxe) and Kanye’s Donda, as well as for Kanye’s “Hurricane.”
The 64th annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 31st.
